Introducing Drissy Parker

#ZimAppreciationWeek

This goes out to my Zimbabwean fam looking to make a living from the creative arts. I dedicated this week to those people because you can never have too much publicity. I'm loving the new sounds that upcoming artists are making. The quality of production is impressive backed up by lyrically dynamic writing. To kick off my appreciation of Zimbabwe, I did promo for this upcoming artist. We went to high school together and back then that's when he was sharpening the daggers so that he could slay some MC's today. Not many people saw it and like most artists he had to dig deep to prove himself before any doors opened up for him He is a humble guy so ladies keep one eye on him because you know what happens when a career blows up. Lets find out more about him.

Born in London to a Zimbabwean mother and Nigerian father, Drissy Parker is a 22 year old MC/Songwriter who has spent most of his life in London & most memorably Harare. "Moving to Zimbabwe was a major shock factor but that soon faded and I soon blended into my roots pretty swiftly."

Developing a support base online most notably Twitter, his long awaited release Never On Schedule looks set to be one of the most talked about mixtapes of the year. Drissy aims to make music that listeners can feel and relate to as well as make Zimbabwe and the rest of the continent proud. "I hope this mixtape helps Zimbabweans around the world realise that our music is powerful and that we are gifted and its only a matter of time till the world see the lights shine."

I suggest you sample some of the tracks off the Never on Schedule mixtape. The Kush Freestyle has received great reception among listeners worldwide. You can download that from his sound cloud account  http://soundcloud.com/drissyparker . There was a setback on the release date of the mixtape but you can follow Drissy Parker's journey on http://twitter.com/DrissyParker or like his fan page at http://facebook.com/drissyparker
to get more info on release dates.

I'm excited to see where the music scene is heading but it can only be done by supporting talent. Personally I feel that upcoming music is creatively superior to mainstream especially in the Hip-hop industry. Its refreshing to hear something different. If you are tired of the same sounds from lyrically constipated artists like Soulja Boy, look out for the other artists I will be posting on this week.

One Question......................

Short and Sweet.

What do you live for everyday?

Think about that for today. What makes you jump out of your bed everyday? What keeps you motivated? Are you still working towards your goals? Has direction changed? if so, is it better?

Just tryna make sense of this thing called life. Regardless of religious beliefs, we all have a calling

Love Revolution

This is a post of a different kind, We are in a time of revolutions. Some may call it the beginning to the end of the world based on revelations from the Holy Bible. Some may say its a time that there is a power shift as developing countries become more advanced. And it has also been said that it is a revolution sponsored by western powers. I do not advocate violence of any sort and i hope the countries involved can recover and move on to enjoy their achievements.

For the rest of us that are not part of a revolution and you feel like you are not doing anything to change this world then i ask that you consider my suggestions. This goes out mainly to people from Zimbabwe and those of African descent but people from other places can take up the initiative as well. A lot of people i know from Zimbabwe are blessed in their lives. They never have to worry about getting basic necessities. On the other hand everyday we drive past people who are not close to that. People that worry about getting one meal a day yet we never think of them. Lets put together some of our resources to help people where we come from. Lets start a Love Revolution where we give back to our people.

Money donations, food and clothes are some of the things we can give back to people who need it more. It does not have to be the biggest contribution. We are not all Bill Gates but regular small amounts from many people make a difference. Many children's homes, seniors homes and other types of homes in Africa do not get enough funding. They cannot depend on foreign help only. If we can all give something and change at least one person's life then we can inspire millions if not more.

I will be starting my initiative for Harare Children's Home. I have pledged to collect clothes that people do not wear and to take them home with me. I will also give food donations from the farm owned by my parents. All this was provoked by a great friend of mine. Her dad served the country until the day he left us. In a way I owe it to people like him because i wouldn't have some of these opportunities if he had not fought for our independence.

All those people that i have appealed to i hope you will take the next step.

Africa's children listen to the voice of the soil

North to South, East to West the children have let their birth place down. It's actually nice to see people stand up for their rights after years of injustice. The people of Egypt and Tunisia have stood out from their troubles to speak out against leaders that take advantage of those without a voice. Mubarak must move on please. Move away. Let the people breathe. 80 million people need their country back.

I hope the rest of the continent catches on to this trend. Unfortunately, for change to be achieved some lives will be lost but this is for the better of the greater. All of us young Africans taking in knowledge from our studies must not become products of our oppression. Lets become changers and eliminators of the oppression because the next generation walking into classrooms should have better opportunities than we were given. We give too many excuses about why we are where we are. Colonization has passed and we have had plenty of time to turn the leaf over.

It's the innocent that suffer but look on high for hope. Their brothers look on watching the suffering or turn a blind eye to the situation. For all the people that have died and have been injured in Egypt and Tunisia, every child born from now you have managed to change his or her life. They could never thank you enough for your courage. Everyday we must turn back and ask ourselves what did I do today that will make tomorrow a better place. If we don't then what are we living for.

No matter how different a man may be there is nothing that places one man over the other. Money, social status and preference are all human creations that we use to discriminate yet we are not creators of this world. Killings in Uganda are shameful, inhumane and outright ignorant. If you are a man of the bible then live by it. The Holy Bible does not justify killing. We pray for a better day tomorrow.

My heart still hurts for Africa

Ladies but why...............................

Im up late on facebook and I see something that triggers a thought. I think its about time ladies start accepting some of their decisions about men are appauling. WTF i mean come on. its not even the guy only to blame. What were you thinking? flexxxpression here we go!

The funny thing is that sometimes it's the ones that want to be gangsta about the decisions they make in terms of relationships. I will never let a guy hurt me blah blah blah, blah blah, blah blah. I've seen my friends get hurt and I'm not that stupid. YEAH RIGHT! stick that on your forehead. There are high chances that someone reading this post is in a messed up situation and they will keep blaming the guy. You made a bad decision and accept it. Get out before it gets worse.

When you are looking at someone, look at them like its an investment. Because if you are going to spend 60% of your free time with this person then you must get something real out of it. If in the 40% that you are not with the person and half of that time is spent stressed. And at the end of the day you break up, all in all you wasted 80% of your free time on something that didn't materialize. You might as well spend that time that time thinking about your life.

Anyway coming back to the story. ladies please use your head not your heart. all these people that say do what your heart tells you dont tell you that your heart doesn't take things literally. I don't like giving relationship advice cause most of the time i think that the person doesn't deserve to be in that situation. I'm not God so I will not tell you to leave that person. all that is up to you but what I will try to do is make you realize that you are paining more than you get pleasure.

Life is not a fairytale. The strong ones move on and the weak ones fall off. Take your time to find the right person. The right guy does not need to go about spraying bullets and hoping that he catches something. The right guy is a sniper and picks out his target carefully. The shot fired is precise and makes the kill that wins the war. No point going around hurting the innocent who go on to hurt more innocent. In the end no one wins. Just a bunch of bitter people blaming each other. Which takes me back to where I started.

The sad thing is my closest friends are also in there situations. Please open your eyes and see..................

Lets start accepting our mistakes and making better decisions

I'm tired of hearing this.............

Excuse me all those ignorant people who feel the need to ask dumb questions. Please desist from asking things that you have not thought about before. I've had several problems with people saying wreckless statements. Like seriously........ WTF!!! We go to school for a reason.

Firstly, a few weeks ago a man in church asked where I was from. In politeness I told him that I'm from Zimbabwe and he said "Oh you came a long way. It must be hard for you to come here?" Huh......... are you kidding me? What right senses of yours made you assume It was a struggle to come here. Thats an insult to my parents who have made my life above average. Think before you speak. You might offend someone.

Secondly, people are afraid of change and are in denial that they are making changes to their lives when really they are in the same place. Well I'm not the best person to speak but I actually try although there are other things that are pending. Do not go out there and judge people to make yourself feel better because for all you know people might be shaking heads when they look at you. It's so easy to be a hypocrite that's why it is best to say things carefully. You may be the one that looks like an idiot after declaring to the whole world that you wouldnt do it.

Lastly, respect for other peoples life decisions is important. dont feel the need to impose your life on someone. if your formula works, great. you can suggest but dont keep insisting on doing things you have not been welcomed to do. The sad thing is these are all done by my friends and family. not just strangers.

Noone is perfect but lets work towards being close to it
